The Indian Railways has introduced 18 weekly special trains from July that will be operating between Chennai and Santragachi, and between Puducherry and Santragachi. This initiative has been taken to improve the season’s extra rush of the passengers. All these trains are via Vijayawada, and the trains will have Sleeper, AC 3 Tier and AC 2 Tier class coaches.
The train from Chennai to Santragachi (No 06058) is to operate on leave Chennai on Wednesdays (July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31) at 3.15 pm and arrive at Santragachi at 7 pm on Thursdays. The return trains (06057) are to depart on Thursdays (July 4, 11, 18, 25 & August 1) at 11.50 pm and arrive at the Chennai Central railway station at 5.30 am on Saturdays.
Similarly, the train No. 06010 that operates from Puducherry to Santragachi would depart from Puducherry at 6.45 pm on Saturdays (July 6, 13, 20, 27) and would reach Santragachi at 4.30 am on Mondays. The return trains (06009) are to leave Santragachi on Mondays (July 8, 15, 22, 29) at 2.10 pm and arrive at Puducherry on Tuesdays at 9.45 pm.
These trains are believed to reduce the extra rush of passengers during the season, making the train operations between these places smooth and hassle-free.
