As the state of Odisha is on high alert of cyclone Fani, multiple flights have been cancelled for the day that operate from and to Bhubaneswar Airport, along with the cancellation of over 200 trains. Some of the flights that have cancelled include popular airlines like GoAir, Indigo and Vistara.
In a social media post, Indigo writes, “Due to cyclone FANI, we’re offering change and cancellation fee waiver for the passengers to/fro Bhubaneswar, Kolkata and Vishakhapatnam for travel between 02nd May’19 to 05th May’19.”
GoAir has cancelled its flights that operate on the routes Kolkata-Bhubaneswar and Mumbai-Bhubaneswar. The passengers would be provided a full refund for the booked flight tickets. Vistara has also shared a list of cancelled flights on its Twitter page.
The airports in Odisha and West Bengal have been shut down, affecting passengers commuting to and from these states. The airports are likely to remain closed for the next two days due to the high alert on cyclone Fani.
Apart from the cancellation of flights, hundreds of trains have also been cancelled partially and fully, while a few of them have been diverted from the cyclone-prone route. The residents and tourists have been evacuated from the coastal areas of the areas on high alert.
