IRCTC Update: Train Booking Window Reduced to 60 Days from 120 Days

The Railway Board has announced a significant change in the ticket booking policy, reducing the advance reservation period for train tickets from 120 days to 60 days.

This new policy will take effect starting November 1, 2024. This means passengers can now book their tickets up to 60 days in advance, a reduction from the previous 120-day booking window. It is important to note that the 60-day period does not include the day of the train’s departure.

This change aims to streamline the booking process and make it more efficient for travellers. All bookings made before November 1 will remain valid and unaffected by the new rule.

Notably, this adjustment will not affect certain day-time express trains like the Taj Express, Gomti Express, and others, which already have shorter reservation periods.

Additionally, the 365-day advance booking period for foreign tourists will remain unchanged, ensuring that international travellers can plan their journeys well in advance without any disruptions.
